SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - A Sioux Falls woman and a police officer were bitten by a dog in the 1300 block of South Elmwood Avenue around seven this morning.
Captain Greg Vandekamp says the dog bit the woman in her arm and both legs before biting the officer in the thigh.
Vandekamp says the officer managed to get the dog off his thigh but the dog came at him a second time. He fired two rounds at the dog which then fled unharmed.
Vandekamp says both shots missed the Tibetan Mastiff that was eventually caught by Animal Control. He says Police Chief Doug Barthel can declare the dog vicious and it would eventually be put down,
Both victims were treated for their wounds.
