Sioux Falls, SD (KELO-AM) Retiring Sioux Falls Police Chief Doug Barthel says crime is not skyrocketing in South Dakota's largest city as some people believe.
He told KELO Radio's Greg Belfrage Show that the crime rate basically matches the population growth rate in town of about 2 percent a year.
Barthel steps down in October after 12 years as Sioux Falls top cop. He says he'll miss the people, but won't miss the phone calls at 2 and 3 in the morning.
