Sioux Falls, SD (KELO-AM) - Mayor Mike Huether says officials will learn from last night's rain event. He referred to the downpour as a "100 year rain".
Huether says the biggest problem for emergency responders last night was vehicles that had stalled in streets. He says police received several hundred calls last night from stranded motorists.
The city had advised no travel last evening due to the rain. Officials closed Louise Avenue near 41st Sreet for a number of hours last night due to high water and stalled vehicles.
Huether says recent improvements to city infrastructure have really paid off, although he says some challenges remain.
City officials met this morning to review procedures and find improvements for the next big rainfall event.
