SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - A man is dead after struggling with a Mitchell police officer who shot him with the suspect’s own gun early this morning.
Attorney General Marty Jackley says 37-year-old Curtis James Meyer died at a Mitchell residence on North Mentzer Street.
Jackley says Officer Russ Stevenson responded to a disturbance call and found Meyer armed with a gun. The two men fought and Stevenson shot Meyer.
The State Division of Criminal Investigation is working the case.
