SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - A new State Farm report shows the odds of South Dakota drivers hitting a deer increased twelve percent over last year.
Ann Avery says the odds South Dakota drivers will hit a deer are one in 73. Avery says the report used claims data and state licensed driver counts.
Fall is the most likely time for South Dakotans to hit a deer and the average cost per claim is over $4,100.
South Dakota ranks fifth nationwide in deer collisions with West Virginia ranked number one.
