SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - Sioux Falls will hire a French company to conduct an airborne electromagnetic survey of the Big Sioux aquifer to place two water wells in the best sites.
Greg Anderson with the city water division says a helicopter, with a long, cigar-like modular, will fly from the airport to the Dell Rapids.
Anderson says the effort will give the city a model that examines what the soil is doing about 900 feet under the surface.
The aerial mapping will cost Sioux Falls about $190,000 but the final report will cost over $350,000.
