SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - Farmers and ranchers have one of the most dangerous job in the nation with over 500 deaths last year.
Ashton Newman with MidAmerican Energy says given producer’s long hour during harvest, it’s easy to overlook electrical equipment and power lines.
Newman says MidAmerican asks producers to remember the ten foot rule: Which is to keep yourself and your equipment at least ten feet away from power lines at all times.
Newman advises producers to never move a power line, watch for guy wires and have an electrician inspect circuits, wiring and equipment.
