Sioux Falls, SD (KELO-AM) Sioux Falls City Councilor Michelle Erpenbach wants to ban the use of hand-held cell phones while driving. She says talking on a phone behind the wheel is as dangerous as driving while legally drunk.
Erpenbach will talk about her proposed ban for the first time at Council's Public Services Committee meeting on Tuesday.
She says Sioux Falls was the first South Dakota city to ban texting while driving and wants the city to lead the way again.
Critics say that a cell phone ban would be more government in the car, but Erpenbach says that seat belts are required by government and so are speed limits.
