SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - Story books will come to life on Saturday at the Sioux Empire United Way’s 15th Annual Reading Festival, “Reading Takes You Places.”
The festival features children's activities and crafts, live storybook readings, literacy information, and live children's entertainment.
The event is free and will be from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Ramkota Exhibit Hall. This year, over 20 different organizations will provide activities & information. All children will receive a free book and parents will receive literacy information and resources.
According to the National Research Council, to prepare children for reading instruction in the early grades, it is best that they be exposed to high-quality language and literacy environments—in their homes, childcares, and preschools.
The Reading Festival is free for all attendees. To learn more about the event, visit www.seuw.org or call United Way at 336-2095.
