Sioux Falls, SD (KELO-AM) Sioux Falls Mayor Mike Huether - for now - is staying out of the debate over the proposed city-wide ban on cell phones while driving.
Huether says he wants the legislative process in City Council to play out awhile longer before talking about the ban. He says that he has "matured" over his years as mayor to realize that letting Council do its' work first often leads to better results in the end.
The proposal before City Council would ban the use of all hand-held electronic devices while driving. There would be a couple of exceptions, such as responding to emergencies.
Council President Kenny Anderson Jr. has said that maybe city voters, instead of council, should decide the issue.
