SIOUX FALLS, SD (KELO AM) – The 24th Annual Parade of Lights presented by CenturyLink is scheduled for Friday, November 27th, at 7:30 p.m. on Phillips Avenue in downtown Sioux Falls. Event organizers are seeking businesses, families, marching bands, drumlines or other groups to submit float applications. The deadline to apply is Friday, October 30th. Participants are eligible for awards in five different categories:
Spirit of Sioux FallsThis award is for the entry exhibiting the most public appeal and charm, most creatively pleasing the crowd.
Mayor's ChoiceMayor Mike Huether will choose his personal favorite.
Downtown Sioux Falls, Inc. Board ChoiceCurrent DTSF Board Chair, Laurie Knutson of EmBe, will choose the board favorite.
Best WorkmanshipThis is awarded to the parade participant who displays outstanding craftsmanship, neatness, attention to detail, overall design and usage of color and materials.
CenturyLink Best Use of Lights
In the spirit of innovation within the community and in partnership with DTSF, CenturyLink will present the Best Use of Lights award, which is given to the float that shows the most ingenuity and engineering in light usage and special effects for visual appeal. CenturyLink is also sponsoring the Parade of Lights event for the 4th consecutive year.
