SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - The Community Blood Bank holds 625 drives a year for the 34 hospitals they serve.
Ken Versteeg says if drives don’t supply the blood types most needed, then the donor rooms pick up the slack.
Versteeg says 70% of the population is either O or A positive and A-B negative is the rarest blood type.
O negative blood can be used by every type but only six percent of the population has it.
The HuHot Halloween blood drive is Friday, October 23 at 41st and Western.
