Sioux Falls, SD (KELO AM) - Sioux Falls Police are searching for a suspect in an altercation that occurred Sunday morning.

Just before 4:30 A.M. officers of the Sioux Falls Police Department were dispatched to a weapons violation at 431 W. 11th St #1.  Metro Communications advised that a person had been threatened by a neighbor with a gun and that the neighbor had broken out the victim’s window.  When officers arrived they set up a perimeter and were able to evacuate the victim and family to a safe location.  The investigation revealed that the victim had yelled up to the suspect apartment to not be so loud.  The suspect responded by going downstairs and using a pellet gun to shoot the victim in the arm causing a minor bruise and then breaking out the storm door window to the victim apartment.

Officers attempted to call the suspect to have him step outside but were not able to reach him by phone.  A short time later four people exited the residence and were briefly detained.  They provided information that the suspect had fled the area prior to police arrival.  This was confirmed and the residents were able to return home.  The current whereabouts of the suspect is unknown.

Victim:  Nelson, Steven Michael, 23, Sioux Falls, SD.
