SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - A ban on cell phones while driving was revisited during last night's Sioux Falls City Council meeting.
During public input former mayors, supreme court justices, former Congresswoman Stephanie Herseth-Sandlin and Sioux Falls resident Matt Miller all advised revisiting the proposal.
Herseth-Sandlin says children, at a very early age, observe their parents driving habits. She says the state allows kids to start driving at age 14 and they need to learn at a very early age what's safe and what's not.
She says Raven Industries has a policy against using a cell phone in a company car.
Herseth-Sandlin says it's an opportunity for Sioux Falls to set a precedent statewide that smaller communities can follow.
