Sioux Falls, SD (KELO-AM) The rape-murder trial of Christopher Kryger opened in Sioux Falls on Tuesday.
Kari Kirkegaard was found dead in the bathtub at her Sioux Falls home early last year. At first it was thought she had died a natural death, but further investigation showed she had been strangled. Prosecutors say DNA evidence links Kryger to the crime.
Reportedly, her brother and father have been barred from the Minnehaha County court room - the brother because of death threats against Kryger.
