SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - Sioux Falls Police say the man accused of raping a 14-year-old girl in Sioux Falls was nabbed Friday afternoon in Pipestone, Minnesota.
Lt. David McIntire could share no other details of the apprehension of 41-year-old Frederick James McAbee.
Bond was set at $2 million. Warrants were issued for 2nd degree rape, kidnapping, attempted 1st degree murder and aggravated incest, among other charges. Apparently the girl is a relative of McAbee.
Officer Sam Clemens says after the rape Thursday night, the girl jumped out of the suspect's van and McAbee fired a handgun. Once the girl escaped she went to a house near Brookings Street and Lincoln Avenue and the residents called police.
