Sioux Falls, SD (KELO AM) – Sioux Falls Police and Schools are warning parents and children to beware of strangers in school zones following two incidents in the last month.

According to a release from the district, a man driving a gold Chevy Tahoe approached a 12 year old student walking to Edison Middle School. Superintendent Brian Maher says the incident happened near 26th Street and West Ave. The man in question is described as a Hispanic male, 50-60 years old with gray facial hair.

The unidentified student was not hurt in the incident, officials said they handled the situation “as we would hope,” staying out of the vehicle and identifying adults at the school immediately.

This comes one month after a homeless man identified as Tobias Terry was charged with trying to lure students away from Lowell Elementary during afternoon dismissal.

As of Thursday night the district said they were working with Sioux Falls police to try to identify the man in the Edison incident, however they haven’t been able to track down the vehicle.
