Sioux Falls, SD (KELO-AM): When a snow alert is declared by the City of Sioux Falls, vehicles cannot be parked legally on the street until the street has been plowed. Sioux Falls Police and Public Parking will ticket vehicles that are plowed in after the snow plows clear the streets, and vehicles may also be towed.
“Our snow removal team takes pride in ensuring our streets are safe during snow events,” says Mark Cotter, Director of Public Works. “Moving cars, construction trailers, and other vehicles off the roadway until after it has been plowed will ensure the surface is properly cleared and will make travel safer for everyone.”
Sioux Falls Police and Public Parking use a concerted effort to ticket all illegally parked cars and construction trailers during snow alerts. Fines for parking citations issued during snow alerts cost up to $100.
