Sioux Falls, SD (KELO AM) – Three police vehicles were damaged and an officer was treated for minor injuries in a Saturday morning incident.
Officers received a report of someone shooting at vehicles near East Rice Street and Cliff Avenue about 4:30 SAturday morning.. Officers found a bullet hole in the victim’s vehicle.
Officers hear shots in the vicinity of the Law Enforcement Center. Another report of shot being fired at a vehicle came in about 5:20 near 41st and Highway 11. The victim followed the vehicle and gave updates to police.
Multiple officers found the vehicle near 26th and Cleveland. The suspect tried fleeing to the north, then turned around and intentionally rammed a police vehicle. The suspect became stuck in a snow bank south of East 26th Street and South Cleveland Avenue after a police car intentionally struck the suspect's car. The suspect surrendered to police without further incident. Evidence on scene tied the suspect to the earlier reported shooting of an occupied vehicle.
The suspect was identified as Lucas Andrew King, a 20-year-old Sioux Falls resident. King was charged with: three (3) counts of Aggravated Assault, Aggravated Assault of Law Enforcement, Aggravated Eluding, Possession of Controlled Substance (Methamphetamine), Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Possession of Stolen Property (.40 caliber handgun), Possession of Firearm by Felon, Discharge of Firearm at Motor Vehicle, Tampering with Motor Vehicle, 2nd Degree Intentional Damage to Property, and Discharge of Firearm from Moving Vehicle.
