SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - Sioux Falls Police held a liquor compliance check of 27 off-sale businesses last night and one clerk sold to the underage buyer.
Officer Sam Clemens says the sale was made at the Shop N Cart on East 12th Street. Clemens says one is not bad but, police want to get back to a streak a few years ago where there were no sales made to underage buyers for six months He says 100% compliance is the goal.
Clemens says police check every off-sale business twice a year.
He says the underage buyer is between 18 and 20 years old and uses their own driver’s license in the checks.
Clerks making sales to the underage buyer are cited and have a mandatory court appearance. Businesses making sales may face fines, suspensions or loss of their liquor or malt beverage license.
