SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - Bringing international scammers to justice is almost impossible let alone to secure a conviction.
But According to Jessie Schmidt with the Better Business Bureau 26-year-old Sanjay Ashani Williams of Jamaica was sentenced to twenty years and ordered to repay over five million dollars in restitution.
Schmidt says William was pitching the lottery winner scam where you are the winner of a lottery but to get the money you must first send money to claim your prize.
Williams was convicted in North Dakota federal court of mail and wire fraud and money laundering.
Williams was arrested as he tried entering the country.
