Sioux Falls, SD (KELO-AM) - Remember the "Golden Rule"....that's the thought behind the City of Sioux Falls' latest effort to make the city a more caring plane. Newly hired City Human Relations Office Coordinator Julie Briggs says the City rolled out the campaign called "Compassionate Sioux Falls". She adds that the effort will help residents come together to cut down on inequality and disrespectful behavior.
According to the City's announcement "The idea for the initiative began with the Charter for Compassion, a document created by author and commentator Karen Armstrong. Through this charter, Armstrong outlines the necessity for communities to return to the principle of compassion and to motivate themselves to action. So far, 63 cities all over the world have signed the charter, and almost 300 are actively taking the steps to become one of those cities. Becoming a recognized compassionate community will help strengthen community connections and establish a community-wide plan of action to continue to bring compassion to life in Sioux Falls."
You can even personally pledge to be more compassionate on the city's website: www.siouxfalls.org/compassion
