Sioux Falls, SD (KELO-AM) Proof that one citizen in Sioux Falls can make a difference comes from KELO Radio's Greg Belfrage Show.
A caller to the show, when Mayor Mike Huether was a guest, suggested why not allow drivers to turn on red off Interstate 229 South onto Louise Avenue. It would improve traffic flow, the caller said.
Well, Mayor Huether looked into it and the city has made the change. The change was announced on Tuesday at the busy intersection by Mayor Huether, at a news conference attended by Greg Belfrage and by the citizen caller himself, Jeff Kosharek.
Huether says the traffic change is proof of the power of the people. Kosharek says it's a small thing, but that once you get something started maybe it "snowballs and we get alot more done."
The City is touting the story as an example of how residents can make positive changes by coming up with common sense solutions.
