Sioux Falls, SD (KELO-AM) The Salvation Army has once again become the benefactor of a generous deed. An envelope containing a gold wedding ring and a letter was left sometime Monday, in one of the red kettles at Hy-Vee's location at 26th and Marion Road. The letter stated that the anonymous donor's Mother had recently passed away, and the gift honors her memory.
The letter read: "Mom's final gift. We are donating this ring in hponor of our mom, who passed away Oct. 10. My parents celebrated 65 years of marriage so her wedding ring was very precious to her. If anything, mom taught us to be charitable. She didn't want to know when or how we spent the $50 Christmas gift they gave us, but rather, where we donated it. We felt this was the best way to honor her. We removed the small stones so we may each have a small part and left the center stone in the setting to be used to help some who are less fortunate. Merry Christmas."
Members of the Salvation Army say the kindness and generosity of people in Sioux Falls brings them to tears.
