SIOUX FALLS, S.D (KELO AM) - CrimeStoppers got a boost today when South Dakota Attorney General Marty Jackley awarded the tipster $5,000, which he says will aid law enforcement in drug busts.
Jackley says the "Drug Control Fund" helps law enforcement fight controlled substance abuse by funding local programs with monies seized from drug arrests. He says the funds will help the Sioux Falls Police Department and the Minnehaha County Sheriff's Office to better protect their communities.
Police Cheif Matt Burn says it gives to the CrimeStoppers Program a key tool for law enforcement to combat drug-related activities and crime.
Sheriff Miek Mikstead says he finds it fitting that money taken from drug traffickers to support CrimeStoppers, a value partner in public safety efforts.
