Sioux Falls, SD (KELO-AM) The Denny Sanford PREMIER Center in Sioux Falls made nearly $2 million in 2015, its first full year of operation.

General Manager Terry Torkildson says just over 645,000 people came through the events center last year, including a "phenomenal"  eleven sellouts. Not only did the 'Denny' make a profit, but Torkildson says it generated nearly $1.5 million in sales taxes for Sioux Falls.

City Finance Director Tracy Turback joined Torkildson at the Tuesday news conference at the PREMIER Center, to emphasie the full package the facility brings to the area - quality of life, economic impact and profit. Turback says that this type of facility is not expected to be a big money maker and many communities around the country have to subsidize their events centers with tax dollars.

Torkildson says the "difference between what we used to have and what we have today is phenomenal."
