Sioux Falls, SD (KELO-AM) Construction of Sioux Falls first-ever indoor city pool is coming along swimmingly, as City Council learned in the quarterly update from city officials.
City Parks Director Don Kearney told Council on Monday that the project continues to track within budget and remains on schedule for a grand opening sometime in late 2016. City Finance Director Tracy Turbak told Council that about two-thirds of the some $24 million budget has yet to be spent, so construction will really be picking up in the spring.
Council reviewed drawings showing better than ever before, some of the amenities and finishes in the Midco Aquatic Center. For example, Kearney pointed out the electrric fireplace in the lobby, that will be especially welcoming to folks coming in to get warm from the nearby sledding hill. The drawings also show the Midco signage for the new pool.
The Midco Aquatic Center will include a 50 meter pool, a recreational pool, a therapy pool, and a splash pad.
