Sioux Falls, SD (KELO-AM) If you love politics, Iowa is where it's at even if you can't vote in the Caucuses. Head of the Minnehaha County Republican Party Dave Roetman is taking a short trip across the South Dakota border from Sioux Falls to Rock Rapids, Iowa, to observe the fun.
"I'm excited to see the process", said Roetman. Rock Rapids is his home town. He says Iowa is the "real beginning" and he's just interested in the process.
South Dakota won't be heard from in the Presidential sweepstakes until June. Roetman says the state's primary is too late in the season to influence the Presidential nomination, but on the other hand, South Dakota voters have more time to assess their own legislative and statewide office seekers. "Given our climate", Roetman says, "the June Primary allows time for candidates to go door to door and speak directly to voters."
