SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - Street Fleet Manager Gaylyn Huber says snow totals in Sioux Falls range from four inches at the airport to close to seven inches in southern areas.
Huber says central neighborhoods got about five inches which is perfect for snow gates.
He says operators lost four snow gates last night, broken when they tried pushing the heavier snow. He says three were repaired but the fourth needs more work.
Huber says some residents claim the city isn't using snow gates, but when the snow gets deep, it's difficult to keep it all in the gate. He says some residents will have more snow in their driveway than others.
Huber says the drifting is so bad on some Sioux Falls streets that crews are first knocking off the tops and returning with the plow.
He says drifts covered entire streets in the southwest neighborhoods.
Huber says all city streets should be open by eight Thursday morning.
