Undated (KELO-AM) Parts of eastern South Dakota were in a wind tunnel early Friday morning.
National Weather Service Forecaster Brad Temeyer in Sioux Falls says the wind was strongest in Mitchell, reaching 76 mph. He says that's near hurricane force. The wind gusts measured 75 mph near Parkston.
He says the wind blew itself out as it moved east across the state, but Sioux Falls still recorded gusts near 60 mph early Friday morning.
No major damage reported. Some traffic lights, reportedly, blew down in Sioux Falls and there was a report of a sparking power line.
After the winds died down it was actually a beautiful Friday in Sioux Falls with sunny skies and temperatures in the 50s.
