Sioux Falls, SD (KELO-AM) - Legislative coffee sessions are popular in South Dakota. Politicians say they are a useful way for them to get public input, gauge opinions and share upcoming issues. The coffee sessions have heated up recently with issues such as transgender accommodation, education funding, and tax hikes.
A younger crowd has been awakened by the legislative action. The student voices will be heard during a planned demonstration before the Sioux Falls coffee session. They say they want to have the legislators “be accountable” to voters.
Seven other legislative coffee sessions are planned across the state Saturday. The Sioux Falls area coffee will be held Saturday morning at the Holiday Inn City Center Downtown, starting at 10 AM.
