SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - There’s been a flurry of fake hundred dollar bills being passed in Sioux Falls.
Officer Sam Clemens says detectives haven’t determined if the phony bills are connected.
Clemens advises clerks to carefully inspect large denominations. He says they have watermarks, threads in the bill and other mint safety measures. He says phony bills don't feel the same as the cotton made currency. Most are printed on regular stationary.
Clemens says the bad bills are being passed at counters, drive-thrus and banks have found them in deposits.
The bad bills are handed over to the Secret Service who head the investigation.
