SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - A Minnehaha County judge today sentenced 42-year-old Christopher Kryger to life without parole for the murder of Kari Anne Kirkegaard.
A jury found Kryger guilty of murder last November.
Kirkegaard was found dead in her bathtub almost two years ago. She had been raped and strangled.
Throughout the trial Kryger maintained that the two had consensual sex and that he did not kill her.
During today’s sentencing, the judge asked Kryger if he anything to say. Kryger answered “It's pretty much pointless, isn't it."
He was also sentenced to 50 years for second degree rape and 25 years for burglary.
