SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - Police say an armed robber intentionally fired his handgun at a Cubbies clerk but missed the 62-year-old woman early this morning.
Officer Sam Clemens says two men, both with handguns, held up the West 49th Street convenience store just after one.
Clemens says surveillance video shows that it was not an accidental shot. He says investigators don't know why the suspect fired his gun. They don't know if there was conversation between the suspects and the victim, who will be interviewed today.
Clemens says firing a handgun brings a new element to armed robberies in Sioux Falls that hasn't been seen in past heists.
Clemens says the clerk was not injured.
He describes the suspects as two black males, both about 5-9 and wore red bandanas over their faces.
The shooter had a slim build, wore a gray hooded sweatshirt, black and white shoes and blue and tan gloves.
The other suspect had a stocky build and wore a red and black coat.
