Toasty Sioux Falls is Phoenix North

Sioux Falls, SD (KELO-AM) Friday in Sioux Falls was the city's warmest March 11 on record.

National Weather Service Forecaster Todd Heitkamp says the old record of 68 degrees in 1990 was shattered by 74 degrees and warmer.

If Sioux Falls was Phoenix on Friday, Chamberlain at 80 degrees was the Bahamas, as the record warm wave washed across large parts of sunny South Dakota.

Heitkamp says you won't need to bundle up for Saturday's St. Patricks Day Parade in downtown Sioux Falls with temperatures in the mid-60s.

March seems to be going out like a lamb, but Heitkamp reminds everyone that March and April can be the snowiest months in South Dakota. Still, he says, there are "no significant snow storms on the horizon."

Enjoy!
