SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - The Joint Appropriations Committee this morning sent a fiscal year 2017 budget of $4.5 billion to the House and Senate for their approval.
Committee Co-Chair, Representative Justin Cronin says the Governor told him this isn’t business as usual.
Cronin says Governor Daugaard told him that in 19 years he's never seen a budget that has come and gone before noon. It's usually finished at 11 or 12 at night. Cronin credits the committee and a new budgeting process.
Co-Chair Senator Deb Peters from Sioux Falls credited committee member’s dedication.
Both chambers passed the budget before noon.
