Sioux Falls, SD (KELO-AM) Sioux Falls Mayor Mike Huether is blasting the majority on City Council who now want to delay moving forward on the proposed $22 million city building downtown.

"We've been debating this, doing due diligence, working collaboratively for one to three years on this and now we are on the one yard line and now we are going to put it in the hands of a brand new city council?", the Mayor fumed on the Tuesday edition of KELO Radio's Greg Belfrage Show.

City Council elections on April 12.  A majority of current council members reportedly want a delay, at least until the City further explores partnering with Minnehaha County for a new joint government building downtown.

Mayor Huether says this kind of delay is not what the people of Sioux Falls want. He says they want elected officials to reach common ground and get things done.

The new city administrative complex would be build on land that is now a parking lot, basically across from the downtown library.
