Sioux Falls, SD (KELO-AM) Sioux Falls Mayor Mike Huether is asking city businesses and residents to "spruce up" because the whole country may be watching this week.
People from all over are country are in South Dakota's biggest city for two big women's basketball tournaments. The Women's Elite Eight of NCAA Division II is at the Sanford Pentagon and a Women's NCAA Division I Regional is at the Sanford Premier Center this weekend.
"I just want to encourage all of Sioux Falls to - hey - let's put on our Sunday best," Huether said at a Tuesday news conference.
The Mayor said that as you take a look around Sioux Falls he thinks the city can spruce itself up a little bit. He's asking everyone to clean up in front of their homes and businesses.
The Mayor says he knows residents will be South Dakota nice. He also wants them to be South Dakota neat.
The city gets nearly 2,000 complaints every year from citizens about problem properties.
