SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - A Sioux Falls police dog kept an assault suspect from returning inside his house after authorities were called about a man armed with a knife.
Police were called to the home around 8:30 last night by a witness who said the suspect grabbed a kitchen knife and was threatening a woman with it. Officer Sam Clemens says police talked to the suspect at the door of a home on North Hudson Avenue and when he turned to go back inside, the K-9 was released.
36-year-old Jeremy Lee Shoulders is charged with simple assault domestic because the female victim told police she never felt threatened by him.
The dog bit the suspect in the lower leg and he required treatment. After the hospital released Shoulders he was arrested and also charged with resisting arrest and obstructing officers
