SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - The much anticipated free, Sioux Falls Landfill pass should be in homeowner's mailboxes today.
Superintendent Dustin Hansen says its good for one free trip to the landfill to dispose of about three cubic yards of household waste.
Hansen says that allows two mattresses or box springs, as well as up to four tires and two appliances. He says you must have the loads tarped or secured before coming to the landfill.
Hansen says 48,000 passes are mailed yearly but only about a third of them are used. He would like more people to take advantage of this free opportunity to bring items to the landfill for free.
You may not pay anyone to deliver your load because they would then be considered a contractor or commercial load.
The free landfill passes are good until August 30.
