SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - Sioux Falls Convention and Visitor's Bureau launched two virtual marketing tools as part of a new campaign engaging visitors while they're in Sioux Falls.
Executive Director Teri Schmidt says one is a "Photo of the Week" campaign on Instagram and another treats social media followers with an on-site prize.
Schmidt says like every industry, travel is becoming all about social media. She says visitors, and potential visitors, are using social media more than any other methodology to plan trips. She says CVB has found it to be the most engaging way to get visitors to Sioux Falls.
The overall campaign engages visitors in the three areas of travel decision: awareness, education and travel time. The two social media initiatives bolster the travel time stage.
Both initiatives lean on the hashtag #weareheresf.
The target audience is potential visitors from Wisconsin, Illinois, Missouri and Ohio
