SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - The City of Sioux Falls makes available a recognition program that highlights a business's sustainability and environmental practices.
Sustainability Coordinator Jessica Lantgen says the Green Business Program gives business owners and managers the tools to improve effeciencies.
Lantgen says businesses can apply to become a Certified Green Business through the City and must obtain a minimum of points in the core categories.
Lantgen says once a business completes certification, the City performs an audit to determine if the applicant meets the goals of the Green Business Program. The business receives a certificate and needs to be recertified annually.
Businesses get free technical assistance from the City to support and improve efficiencies. The program also aligns business with a new customer base, offers marketing benefits, increases public awareness and presents an opportunity to be recognized as a leader in the community.
