SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - All hell broke lose early this morning at the Hilton Garden Inn in downtown Sioux Falls when a 29-year-old transient jumped from a second story window after activating the fire alarm and trashing one of the rooms.
Officer Sam Clemens says the man threw an outdoor smoking stand through a hotel window and once inside pulled the fire alarm.
Clemens says the man got to the second floor and after a family fled their room he went in and vandalized their personal property and the contents of the room. He broke the sink and television and caused an estimated $8,000 to $10,000 in damage.
After police cornered him in the room, he broke the window and jumped. After falling two stories the man had enough fight in him to struggle with police who had to Tazer the suspect.
Once the suspect is released from the hospital he'll be arrested for burglary, felony intentional damage to property and resisting arrest.
