Sioux Falls, SD (KELO-AM) - The area's third "wrong way" collision in one week has killed a man. Law Enforcement, Paramedics, Fire Rescue and Medical helicopters responded to the area of the Wall Lake intersection on Highway 42 Friday night. Reports os a serious car crash came in about 8:30 PM. The South Dakota Highway Patrol reports that a 19 year old man was driving north of Wall Lake in the wrong lane eastbound on Highway 42, striking a westbound car occupied by a father and two daughters. The 39 year old man was killed, and his young daughters, ages 12 and 9, were airlifted to hospitals in critical condition. The wrong way driver also suffering serious injuries.
The road was closed in the area of the crash for more than three hours. Sergeant Steve Swenson of the HP says they are continuing the investigation. Names of those involved have not been released.
