SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - Authorities said it was just a matter of time before homicide suspect Jared Stone was arrested and it happened last night in southeast Wyoming.
Law enforcement agencies in western Nebraska and Wyoming chased Stone through their states until he was stopped and caught in Wyoming.
Stone was earlier seen in Lyman County, South Dakota, near Presho. A State Highway Patrol trooper stopped a car on the side of Interstate 90, but the man gave a false name, so the trooper left. The County Sheriff then came by and identified the car as the one Stone was driving, but by then Stone was long gone.
Stone on Tuesday posted his Facebook page while on the run following Friday's shooting on West 11th Street.
Officer Sam Clemens says investigators had to first determine if the postings were really from Stone or someone pretending to be Stone.
On Facebook, Stone claims he fatally shot Baptiste White Eye in self-defense.
The woman accused of driving the getaway car was captured in Iowa and authorities thought Stone was also there, but the fugitive eluded law enforcement.
Both Stone and the woman will have to face extradition before returning to Sioux Falls.
