SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - According to personal finance website WalletHub, South Dakota is the second most gambling addicted state.
Jill Gonzalez says we're second only to Nevada when WalletHub considered lottery sales per capita, sports and fantasy sports gambling, casinos per capita and gambling disorders.
Gonzalez says the WalletHub study shows South Dakota is number one in the number of casinos per capita and in lottery sales per capita. We're number two in the number of gaming machines per capita.
WalletHub's analysts compared the states across 13 key metrics to sort out which states have the most prevalent gambling problem. It also considered presence of illegal gambling operations .
Gonzalez says Americans lose roughly $100 billion gambling each year.
