SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - Sioux Falls Jazz and Blues announced next season's concert series this morning.
Executive Director Rob Joyce says the series opens October 7 with Here Come the Mummies a funk-rock band of 5,000 year-old Egyptian mummies.
Alicia Olatuja will perform November 18. Joyce says Olatuja wowed everyone at the 2013 presidential inauguration with her solo during the "The Battle Hymn of the Republic."
Blue-rocker Shemekia Copeland comes to the Orpheum Theater January 27th. She's earned eight Blues Musinc Awards and more accolades from fans, critic and fellow musicians.
Joyce says Jerron "Blind Boy" Paxton has earned a reputation for transporting audiences back to the 1920's. He'll be joined by The Americans, an original rock and roll band with deep roots in traditional American music. They'll perform March 11.
The Dirty Dozen Brass Band has revitalized the brass band in New Orleans. This world famous music machine plays April 21.
Joyce says there's a lot of power in the voices and instruments of these musicians. He says subscription sales are available and individual tickets go on sale in August, but Joyce says don't wait. He says some of the show may sell out with subscription purchases.
Jazz and Blues Concert Series subscriptions available at the Washington Pavilion box office.
