SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - Mayor Mike Huether today announced his appointment for the next Community Development Director.
He's Daren Ketcham who has served as the Director of Metro Communications since 2008.
Huether says he has no doubt that Ketcham has "the right ingredients to lead our great city to even greater heights. Just watch him!"
Before directing Metro Communications, Ketcham was the Program Manager for the South Dakota Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management Specialist/State Planner for the South Dakota Office of Emergency Management. He also served at the treasurer of the Harrisburg Economic Development Corporation.
Ketcham has a bachelor's degree in political science from the University of South Dakota and a master's in business administration from the University of Sioux Falls. He's also veteran of Operation Enduring Freedom , a captain in the South Dakota Army National Guard.
Ketcham will replace Darin Smith who will be the new C-E-O of the Washington Pavilion. Smith's last day at city hall is Friday, May 27.
If approved by the city council, Ketcham will start as Director of Community Development on May 23.
