SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - The City has revamped it's website allowing for easier access to mobile devices and tablets because more visitors are using them rather than a personal computer.

Director of Central Services Sue Quanbeck Etten says the goal was to offer a responsive website where users can pay bills, find a job or use an interactive map.

Quanbeck Etten says the other major motivating factor was Google's decision to change its search engine last year.  She says it gives priority to a responsive or mobile-friendly website.

The City's website receives up to 125-thousand hits a month.  Analytics show about 51% of the visitors to siouxfalls.org are using mobile devices and tablets.  She says that's up from 35% in 2013.

She says the website is an important tool for the city to communicate with citizens, visitors and the business community, and for them to communicate with the city.

Siouxland Libraries, the City's employment listing, the police call log, Parks and Recreation, Sioux Falls Regional Sanitary Landfill and the Sioux Area Metro's pages see the most traffic.

The City's website last underwent a major redesign in 2012.  The web designer for this project is Elizabeth Ahlers.
