SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - The South Dakota Highway Patrol is holding a recruiting seminar for potential female candidates tomorrow night in Sioux Falls.
Tony Mangan with the Department of Public Safety says currently there are five female troopers.
Colonel Craig Price, superintendent of the South Dakota Highway Patrol, says this is the second time the Patrol has tried such a recruiting effort. He says women plan an important role in law enforcement and he recognizes the value that the current female troopers bring to the Highway Patro.
Troopers will discuss the application process, training and what it's like to be a state trooper.
The Sioux Falls seminar is tomorrow night at six at Southeast Technical Institute. It'll last for two hours .
The Highway Patrol is now accepting applications through July 8 for the next class of 15 to 20 recruits. Price says they are looking for high quality individuals, the best of the best.
